In June 2008, MacuSight entered into a license agreement for Perceiva with Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Under terms of the agreement, Santen received rights to develop and commercialize Perceiva for ocular diseases and conditions, including DME and wet AMD, in Japan and Asia. MacuSight retained development and commercialization rights for Perceiva in all other markets. Based on positive Phase 1 data, Santen provided MacuSight with an upfront payment of $50 million for funding MacuSight's continuing research and development efforts, including clinical development of Perceiva, and will provide MacuSight with milestone payments and a royalty on future Perceiva sales in Japanese and Asian markets. |
